We’ve got an opportunity for you to book a tour of the new exhibition at the National Gallery and discover the stories behind Frans Hals portraits!
Travel back in time to the 17th-century Dutch Republic and enjoy paintings of the Dutch Golden Age. Our tour will take 3 hours and we will start by looking at the artists from Hals’ circle, as well as exploring works by Rembrandt and Velázquez.
Then we will move on to the exhibition itself, and study the works by Hals whilst discussing their importance and place in art history. And if you are interested in Russian connections, as it turns out, Hals was only a handshake away from Mikhail Romanov, the first Tsar of the Romanovs dynasty. You will also learn about the battle of two heavyweights, the 4th Marquess of Hertford and Baron James de Rothschild for a painting by Hals.
To find out more, join our art tour on the 26th of October at 10:30am led by art historian and former editor, Irene Kukota. The cost of the tour is £40 per person, and visitors must buy exhibition tickets themselves separately for the 11am slot.
