London Shakespeare Workout is a charity best known for taking Shakespeare into prisons both in the UK and Internationally. As part of their 20th-anniversary celebrations, they set up a new project (LUP) at HMP Pentonville wherein they bring drama students in as part of their core study to work with prisoners. This came about as a result of 18 years work with graduating students from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
Pretend & Prepare is an original compilation of Shakespeare & Pushkin celebrating Pushkin’s ennobling cautionary tale THE LEGEND OF BORIS GODUNOV will take place inside HMP Pentonville prison. This will be presented in both English and Russian and will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, 24th January 2018.
This programme will additionally feature segments from LUP2’s Xmas presentation; itself telling a universal story via an original compilation of Shakespeare and original inmate writing. Original musical underscoring provided by students of the Rose Bruford School’s Actor/Musician 2018 BA Programme.
Dramatic performances by the LUP2 Tranche Lads (prisoners).
