Two giants in Russia’s tumultuous history: the nation’s poet Pushkin and the nation’s Tsar, Nicholas I. Their relationship begins with mutual need and mutual admiration. Mad with notions of his wife’s infidelity, Pushkin fights a fateful duel. Moscow’s Novaya Opera Theatre performs this thrilling world premiere of power, passion and politics in new opera by Konstantin Boyarsky (composer) and Marita Phillips (libretto) at Grange park Opera.
