The London Philharmonic Orchestra brings the power of Wagner’s Das Rheingold to Royal Festival Hall, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski to mark his 10th anniversary as Principal Conductor.

Deep beneath the River Rhine glints the ancient Rhine gold. Far above, the great gods complete their fortress of Valhalla and prepare to rule over the earth. But the treasure in the Rhine contains a power stronger than any living being, and all it demands is a willingness to renounce love.

In the opening chapter of his epic Ring Cycle, Richard Wagner doesn’t just tell a story of mythic power; he creates a whole new imaginative world in music.

Jurowski’s Wagner interpretations have been described in the press as ‘exquisite’, and with a world-class cast headed by Matthias Goerne as Wotan, this is a major occasion to mark the 10th anniversary of Vladimir Jurowski’s role as the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Conductor.
