The first ever mixed-art exhibition as part of the “Russian and British Plein-air Art” project by Leonid Shishkin Gallery opens on 14-16 February at the Parallax Art Fair in Kensington Town Hall. The event is unique in bringing together exhibitors – both artists and dealers – from all over the world to share their cultural artistry and diversity of novel ideas with London audiences.
Leonid Shishkin Gallery, one of the oldest art galleries in Russia with unmatched reputation, will present a carefully curated collection of small-sized paintings depicting sunlit plein-air settings, faces of childhood happiness, lively town streets and wondrous water-scenes delivering a virtuous eye-feast of varied impressionist techniques for the delight of experts. The collection features big names along with lesser known artists of Russian and British plein-air art, displayed in a colourful collage of vibrant scenery. This is truly one-of-a-kind opportunity to ponder on the amazing similarity between first-class Russian and British paintings of the same period, styled in plein-air impressionist tradition of both nations.
Leonid Shishkin Gallery has over 30 years of experience in art-dealing, which is recognised within multinational CINOA and All-Russia ICAAD. Its UK branch first opened in Weybridge, Surrey – 2011 to offer Russian art to both local UK and Russian expat clientele. Since then the Gallery had successfully integrated into British art scene by participating in reputable London & UK art fairs. For decades now, the gallery is known as the leading specialist in Russian Art of the Soviet era, however, it had also recently expanded its expertise into the XX century British Painting.
