Saatchi Gallery, London SW1 4RY.  The 32nd edition of British Art Fair opens this week presenting its annual showcase of the very best Modern British and Contemporary British Art, elegantly installed throughout the museum-style interiors of Saatchi Gallery.  Among the 70+ exhibitors at British Art Fair 2023 are dealers who have been loyal to the fair for decades, bringing exceptional Modern and Contemporary British Art year on year. Exhibitors include: Osborne Samuel, Jonathan Clark, Patrick Bourne, Willoughby Gerrish, Redfern Gallery and Alan Wheatley. The Fine Art Society, Stow Art House, Zuleika Gallery are among the dealers who are new to the fair this year, and those returning include Whitford Fine Art and Robert Upstone

The performance is based around Stephanie's creation 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐛, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 a dance story which Stephanie has choreographed in response to Central and Eastern European experiences in the UK and dealing with migration and identity. You can get a feel of the piece from the accompanying images which are stills from an outdoor performance of Not a Crab, Not a Fish.

OneBeat is accepting applications for two month-lo OneBeat is accepting applications for two month-long U.S.-based music exchanges scheduled for the spring and fall of 2024, which will convene 50 musicians from up to 54 eligible countries and territories. OneBeat Fellows will spend appoximately one month in an intensive residency which offers a chance for artists to write, produce, and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based social engagement. OneBeat Fellows then go on tour across a region of the U.S., performing for a wide array of American audiences, collaborating with local musicians, and leading workshops with youth and community organizations. During the month, each OneBeat musician also sets out their plans for the future, further developing projects in their home countries that embody the OneBeat mission of collaboration and engagement. On the 9th of September, at the Chiswick Books Fes On the 9th of September, at the Chiswick Books Festival, Tom Parfitt will talk to Lea Sellers about his book - The High Caucasus: Travels in Russia’s High Mountains. 
A Russia correspondent for The Times and The Guardian, Parfitt witnessed the Beslan siege of 2004 by Chechen and Ingush militants in the Caucasus region of Southern Russia. Afterwards he embarked on a thousand mile quest, seeking an understanding of the roots of violence in the region.

“Wandering in Other Worlds – Evenki Cosmology and Shamanic Traditions” at the @PittRiversMuseum is open until 3 September 2023, inviting you, through this display and the virtual reality (#VR) headset, to wander in another world, an #Evenki world. 
Listen to stories shaped by Evenki #cosmology and #shamanic #tradition and find out how these relate to objects in the Pitt Rivers Museum. 
The Evenki are a diverse cultural group living across Northern and #CentralAsia. They are primarily reindeer-herding and hunting people, although in the steppes, Evenki took up horse herding, while in the #Arctic, fishing became an important occupation. Adapting to change and living in #harmony with nature has always been central to Evenki way of life.
The exhibition features work by @AnyaGleizer whom you may remember from our 2020 interview about her work in the region (also linked in our bio).

Rachmaninoff’s intoxicating Second Piano Concerto marked his triumphant return to composing following a four-year recovery from the disastrous premiere of his First Symphony. It’s brought to life in the hands of Mikhail Pletnev, one of the greatest pianists of his generation.
Shostakovich’s Eleventh Symphony drew on stories shared around his family table, particularly those of his father who survived St Petersburg’s Bloody Sunday massacre. The cinematic work features stirring revolutionary songs, painting a vivid musical portrait of blood-soaked battle.

These icon events are brought to the Edinburgh Fes These icon events are brought to the Edinburgh Festival by the Edinburgh School of Icon Painting. From the 17th-19th of August, an exhibition of icon artwork is on display, and on the 18th, the director of the school, Basia Mindewicz, will give a talk about the artistic techniques and spiritual inspiration behind one of the most venerated sacred art forms. The style is rooted in the Eastern Orthodox tradition.

Tom Stoppard’s play Leopoldstadt gets a Russian Tom Stoppard’s play Leopoldstadt gets a Russian premiere. On June 16, 2023 Russian Academic Youth Theatre (RAMT), Moscow will have a unique premiere that will open a new page in its history. The audiences will see the first Russian production of Tom Stoppard’s latest play Leopoldstadt that had opened in London on 25 January 2020, then had a break for covid pandemic closures, and later ran in the West End up through 2022.
