“Bridges of Time” (2018) is the radical Baltic New Wave of the 1960s redefined documentary: moving away from realism and towards romance, and a belief that the documentary form could pose metaphysical questions about life.

Katya Gerasimova Bosky and Natasha Arendt are invi Katya Gerasimova Bosky and Natasha Arendt are inviting you to visit third ‘B&W and Bright” exhibition in London at Art Space, St.Marylebone Parish Church from 31st March till 26th April.
Natasha Arendt created an unusual series of semi-abstract paintings and drawings in bright colours; abandoning her usual restrained palette. In her works, the traditions of surrealist Soviet graphics of the 1960s and 1970s are combined with French Art Deco and Suprematism of the 1920s. And this is not a stylization, but an organic and at the same time ironic worldview of the artist.

ART DECO MOSCOW AND BELGRADE by Lana Velkova "Aft ART DECO MOSCOW AND BELGRADE by Lana Velkova
"After appearing first in France in the 1910s, #Art #Deco spread all over the world in 1925 when it “seduced the world”. That is, according to the ‘Art Déco France – Amérique du Nord’ exhibition I visited a few months ago at Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris’ 16th arrondissement. Subsequently walking around autumnal #Trocadéro, I found myself wondering about two very distinct visions that I had assumed to be #Art #Deco: the Зграда команде ваздухопловства (“Air Force Command Building”), one of my favourite buildings in Belgrade, together with unrealised Soviet projects such as the Дворец Советов (“Palace of the Soviets”) which were set to be built in Moscow in the 30’s or 40’s.
How did this #French seduction from the time period of the roaring 20’s travel to two geographically distant yet somewhat culturally similar countries, both at some point in time harbouring historical alliances with France? And how does that impact look like in affluential #Eastern and #Southern #European #capitals that were once the focal points of the two states, namely the #USSR and the #Kingdom of #Yugoslavia respectively? This article explores these two questions, using the terms #Soviet and #Yugoslav interchangeably with Russian and Serbian, whilst maintaining a purely #architectural focus"

CHELSEA OPERA GROUP PERFORMS OPRICHNIK (THE GUARDS CHELSEA OPERA GROUP PERFORMS OPRICHNIK (THE GUARDSMAN) BY TCHAIKOVSKY - 11 MARCH AT @cadoganhall
@chelsea_opera Group presents the English premiere of Oprichnik by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky on March 11th at 7pm at Cadogan Hall. This is a rare opportunity to hear an exciting work by one of the world’s greatest composers. Conducted by James Ham, the cast includes Yvonne Howard, Stephen Richardson, Brian Smith Walters and Seljan Nasibli.
Oprichnik (The Guardsman) is an early, infrequently performed opera by Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). Written in the early 1870s, it was premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg on 24 April 1874. Despite the composer’s own reservations, the first production of Oprichnik in St Petersburg was a significant triumph.
The opera is a romantic tragedy set in 16th century Moscow during the reign of Tsar Ivan the Terrible and his feared bodyguards, the Oprichniks. The title refers to Andrey Morozov who joins the Oprichniks to obtain justice from the Tsar for the wrongs committed by Prince Zhemchuzhnïy who killed Andrey’s father, leaving him and his mother, Boyarïnya Morozova living in poverty.
Bruno Bower will give a pre-performance talk for ticket holders at 5.45pm

THE SLEEPING BEAUTY AT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE UNTIL THE SLEEPING BEAUTY AT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE UNTIL 6 JUNE 2023
The Sleeping Beauty holds a very #
special place in The Royal Ballet’s heart and history. It was the first performance given by the Company when the Royal Opera House reopened at Covent Garden in 1946 after World War II. In 2006, this original staging was revived and has been delighting audiences ever since.
Frederick #Ashton famously cited the pure classicism of #Marius #Petipa’s 19th-century #ballet as a private lesson in the atmospheric art and craft of choreography. Be swept away by #Tchaikovsky’s ravishing music and Oliver #Messel’s sumptuous designs with this true gem from the classical ballet repertory.
