Rachmaninov’s passionate Piano Concerto No. 2 may have been written for the concert hall, but it had a successful second life on screen in films including Brief Encounter and The Seven Year Itch. It is performed along with a mesmeric excerpt from Golden Globe-winner Jóhann Jóhannsson’s score for The Miners’ Hymns, Tchaikovsky’s cinematic, Shakespeare-inspired Romeo and Juliet overture and a world premiere from Oscar-winning Joker composer Hildur Guðnadóttir.
