Whilst Cadogan Hall is closed for the time being, our Resident Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic (RPO) is unable to perform so we wanted to introduce you to #RPOatHome which offers many different ways for you to enjoy the Orchestra’s extraordinary musicians and stay connected during these unprecedented times. They have videos, games, trivia and special online events to look out for in the coming weeks. A number of the Orchestra’s players are taking the opportunity to give us a unique treat with a variety of performances and films from their homes.
In the fifth episode of the ‘RPO Extra’ podcast series, they explore the backstory to a special re-orchestration of Handel’s Messiah through a conversation with the American conductor Dr Jonathan Griffith who played a significant role in uncovering the story and bringing the music to life.
Plus, they speak with pianist Daniel Ciobanu on his approach to performing, as well as the RPO’s Chair and double bass player Benn Cunningham on the inner workings of an international orchestra.
