Elena Lojevsky’s most recent series of paintings, 2020, which will be exhibited exclusively at Gallery Different in London from 17 – 19 June 2022, is a very personal response to a life-changing moment in 2020: the sudden death of her husband, Igor, from Coronavirus at the start of the pandemic.

‘Lacrimosa” by Elena Lojevsky

These works serve as both a private and public memorial to what Lojevsky calls ‘a cursed year’, when the physical creation of art became a necessary means of expressing and processing the complex emotional turmoil that words simply could not. In 2020 Lojevsky lays bare the psychological trauma of loss and invites the viewer to act as witness to her emotional journey through the perspective of their own life experiences.

Elena Lojevsky is a London-based artist who works in a variety of media to create abstract images that speak to shared human emotions.
