“Vladimir Tarasov, a drummer of rare subtlety and cunning, takes sensual delight in the very touch of his extensive array of instruments, from finger chimes to cymbals. He is also a master of decorative brushwork”. Nat Hentoff, The Wall Street Journal
Together with the members of the GTCh Trio (Viatcheslav Ganelin, Vladimir Tarasov, Vladimir Chekasin) he laid the foundations of Lithuanian jazz school and collaborated with many great sound and visual artists, such as Ilya Kabakov, Andrew Cyrille, the Rova Saxophone Quartet, Anthony Braxton, Lauren Newton, and Josef Nadj.
Vladimir Tarasov’s performance will mark closing of Ivan Sotnikov exhibition Battle with the Squirrel and pay homage to Leningrad experimental music scene of the 1980s.
