The Hermitage Foundation UK launches series of lectures by visiting curators from the Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg,  hosted by MacDougall Arts.

The Art Week will consist of four lectures in Russian (simultaneous translation into English will be available) that will be held at 6pm each day at MacDougall’s gallery.

16 October  Yulia Lukyanova (the Hermitage Education Department) will introduce the State Hermitage Museum as an architectural masterpiece housing an encyclopaedic collection of art.

17 October Nina Tarassova (Hermitage curator of Russian textiles) will speak on her collection and the creation of a Hermitage Museum of Costume at Staraya Derevnya, on the outskirts of the city of St Petersburg.

18 October Sonia Kudriavtseva (head of the Hermitage Youth Centre and Student Club) will give a lecture entitled “Art and Politics in Russia. Contemporary Art exhibitions at the Hermitage Museum”.

19 October Dimitri Ozerkov (head of the Department of Contemporary Art) will speak on Dmitri Prigov and the Moscow Conceptualists. An exhibition devoted to Prigov will have opened the previous week at the gallery Calvert 22, 22 Calvert Ave, London E2 7JP.
